The harbour is the heart and soul of Nysted. In its urban yet rural setting, the harbour is the lifeblood of the town. Nysted harbour is located at the far end of Nysted Nor cove, with beautiful views of the Femern Belt and Rødsand offshore wind farm, as well as views of the lovely, old market town and Aalholm Castle.
You really get a sense of history in Nysted, with the beauti ful, well-preserved old houses, and a visit to the town refreshes the soul. Cycling is a good option if you want to get out and explore the surrounding area.
 
The harbour is the backdrop to various events in the summer. There is jazz down by the harbour 2 Tues days in August, and from 8-10 August there is a shark-cutter regatta as part of the Hanse Sail.
